I have a user who tried to installed Windows Installer 3.1 directly from the CD I shipped rather than just using the Setup file which handled it automatically, and now she's getting the following error when she tries to install the software:

Not enough storage is available to process this command.

I've seen enough info online to think it is related to Windows Installer 3.1, but I don't know how to resolve the problem.

I have successfully installed the oftware on half a dozen Vista Home Premium SP1 machines with no troubles, so I know it will work- I just have to get past what (I hope) is a simpe problem.

Can anyone help me with this please?

Vista SP1 already has Windows Installer 4.0, so your user has probably just killed it. When your innstaller ran on a Vista SP1 system it wouldn't have installed Windows Installer at all because a more recent version of Windows Installer was already present. Your user should use System Restore to restore her system to its state before that installation.

I would also like to point out that this question has nothing to do with VB.NET and doesn't belong in the VB.NET forum. This is nothing to do with your app and, even if it was, it's a deployment issue and nothing to do with the VB code.

Thanks for the explanation- that will help significantly in resolving this issue!

My bad on the poor forum selection, I wasn't paying attention. Could an Admin please redirect?

On a personal note: Words can hurt, man...you know? I'm just sayin...but don't sweat it  I'm good.

Thread moved to the "Application Deployment" forum, which is where questions about installing/distributing your software belong
