    [2008] Free ASP.NET hosting with MySQL

    Does anyone know if there's any hosts out there that support ASP.NET and MySQL databases for free? I've searched for a while now and can't find any.

    At first you ask about Free ASP.Net Hosting with MySql but then you ask if there are any hosts that support ASP.Net and MySQL databases for free.

    So I guess my question is: are you looking for a cheap host that will support ASP.Net / MySQL for free (i.e. on top of the cheap plan) or are you looking for a free host that has ASP.Net / MySQL?

    I would assume you meant the latter... in which case I am not aware of any that do that. Keep in mind if you want free hosting you'll get what you pay for meaning you'll probably get next to nothing in terms of database and file storage size, it'll probably be limited / slow as they'll shove hundreds of sites onto the same box and you'll probably have ads out the wazoo.

    I would suggest just going the cheap route. I really like JodoHosting as of late and they offer many cheap hosting prices. HostGator is also a great company you could check out.

    Yeah I was talking about having everything free, not just support for ASP.NET and MySQL. I guess I'll start looking into paid plans and services. Free hosts provide terrible support anyway.

    Hey,

    With regard to hosting ASP.Net applications for free, you are unlikely to find a "good" provider. If seem to remember there being free ones out there, but I also remember hearing bad things about them.

    In order to host ASP.Net applications, service providers need windows, and for that they need windows licenses, hence it normally costs more to host ASP.Net applications as opposed to just html, or php web pages, which can be hosted on a linux machine which don't require licences.

    Having said that, a relatively new technology called mono is out, which allows for hosting ASP.Net applications on a linux based machine, hence it will be cheaper. Here is one such host:
