How about creating a new category for XNA? I know that alot more people are getting interested in it. If others that are already a part of the community could chat about it that would be cool.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah I have seen more and more interest in it so I figured I would put it out there. Nice to see that the administrator is willing to actually look into the suggestions by members unlike some other communities.

Rest assured that any thread created in the Forum Feedback section gets read by the adminstrators of this site, as well as all the mods.
In the meantime, I would suggest that if you have an XNA specific question post it in the WPF, WCF, WF section, and put "XNA" in the subject line along with the subject of your thread.

But is XNA really that related to WPF/WCF/WF? I remember the possibilities of an XNA forum being discussed before, and it was concluded that there are not enough XNA threads being made to justify a XNA subforum. However we still have the Game & Graphics forum, which is essentially what XNA is all about.

I would also second the graphics forums as XNA is not part of the 3.5 framework additions like the others are. In fact it has been part of the framework since 2.0 I believe. I wonder if they will release a VB SDK?

{EDIT: The following statements are COMPLETELY WRONG. I am Talking about Xaml rather than XNA. Brain lapse in the middle of the afternoon. I think I wrote this while taking my afternoon nap....}
XNA is a mark-up language, so it could go anywhere XML or markup is covered. It is used for graphics, so it could go anywhere graphics discussions go. It is used as the markup for WPF, so it could go where WPF is located. It can be used by C#, VB, or any other language, so it could go into any language forum.....
Bottom line - it could go a lot of places depending on what you are doing, so take your best guess and see what help you get. If at first you don't get help, then there are other areas to try ;) :)

But XNA isnt a markup language, or am I tired and making a fool out of myself as usual? ( ;) )
Its a framework for creating Windows and Xbox 360 games. The only language available for use with XNA currently is C# however the Microsoft people that was here under the slow chat a while back mentioned a possibility that VB and XNA might work together in the future.

Yes, XNA is a framework. I'd also say the Games forum is where it belongs.

I myself too thought it was a framework as well. I think one of the main reasons it doesnt get alot of discussion here is because there is no actual topic on it. It may generate a little more response if there were a subject dedicated to it.

Yup, its a framework alright. Its actually a wrapper for Direct X that is managed by the .NET framework!

I think you may be confusing XNA with XAML brad...

XNA isn't a mark-up language; it's a framework to be used with C# (or VB with the bleed latest version). The WPF/WCF forum would not be the correct forum for XNA questions.
I think the Games forum should be removed from the VB section as most of XNA stuff is going to be in C#. Then you'd put your XNA, DirectX, OpenGL, GDI, etc questions in the gaming forum.
Obviously the Gaming Code Bank can be used for Code Bank related entries.

D'oh! Brad is the one running on a lack of sleep. XNA is the gaming platform. I had been messing with WPF and had Xaml on the mind.... Bad Brad....
Ironically, I am also a big fan of XNA....
Let me step back and re-address the request....

I messed up with my first post in this thread (which I deleted) and that post lead me further astray with my second post. Wow. It has been a long week, but I didn't think it had been that long....
Because I like XNA, I'd be okay creating an XNA forum, but as indicated, it would go into the .NET group as I don't believe VB is supported with XNA. If it doesn't get a good amount of use, then we can move the Game Programming forum out of VB and let it contain XNA as well. Initially, we can keep them separate.
One of the things that got my attention about XNA a few months ago was the added support for targeting the Zune. As a Zune owner, that was what caused me to pick up an XNA book. (I actually have a couple on my shelf).
One of the other things I learned at PDC last year was that the Surface also supports XNA. It is becoming very cross platform.
Brad!
I'm awake now....
Hopefully....

Wow thanks for the input brad. I feel like my membership to this community is actually valued. Thanks for replying and looking into the issue for us. I will try to do some promotion so for XNA so that maybe we can get some more members from the XNA creators club to our community for XNA as well as other C# / VB issues. Once again thanks brad for the reply and improving on an already great community.

You are welcome -
I should make a general comment -- getting new forums created is not always as easy as getting this XNA forum. I have admin prerogative, so when you ask for a topic I like, you often get to skirt the usual process of justification ;) :D

Sounds like a good plan, Brad! but I believe you'll need to combine the Xna and gaming forums rather soon. While Xna is cool I don't think there is a ton of Xna traffic on VBforums.
I could be wrong but I'm just trying to save you the trouble.
Also, yes VB is not supported under Xna but you can make it work.
