hi, i need to different types of different database products to use for each scanerio/business.

1. small family business, they need to enter order details into system which wil process to delivery and send invoice to customers.

2. relatively large business with 75 staff, they need to remote access for a variety of sales and survey staff.

3. national chain with 400 outlets in the uk, they deal with many suppliers from around the world, they need to record and process a huge volume os sales, stock, invoice, accounting, personal and related information.

please help i just need the name of the different database products that i can use for the scanerios given above. two products for each scanerios.

Sounds like homework. What research have you done on DBMS's?

Two products for each scenario? There isn't enough information. All three could use SQL Server, but that might be too steep a price for the first one. What kind of course is this? Is there a "right" answer?

yea they can, but scanerio 1-3 are a combanation of small, medium and large businesses. i mean different database products such as access, oracle etc but not sure which one to choose for each.

Access will ONLY work for scenario 1. Oracle makes most sense for 3, but could also work well for 2, and not so reasonable for 1. SQL Server would work best for 2 and 3. SQL Express would work for 1.

OracleXE will work for 1 also (similar to SQL Express). Also SQL CE for number 1

is this for homework ? or do you have contracts with a uk Co that has 400 stores ? if you do have a contract and you are doing this yourself i would say good luck with it. i would be a bit weary of taking on such a task if i was you as you are asking about the basic framework of these database systems i would take it you don't really know what way to go?

if this is the case i would hire someone to help with the contract and build this into the costs.
I dont mean to be critical i just think a contract for 400 stores would set you up as a sole trader for the next 4 years Min, if you get the correct support arangements agreed. i.e. 10k a year for support plus the initial outlay for the set up and software licence.

again good luck if you have nailed a contract for 400 stores well done.
