[RESOLVED] Forum Rank

Hi,

I recently had the rank on the forum as "Frenzied Member"! However, when I reached 2049 posts or so then my rank changed to "Ultra Member" or something like that. I then continued to post and around to posts later 2059 (I think) my rank changed to "Power Poster".

Was there an error with the system or were the number of posts needed for each rank changed? I thought I would remain an "Ultra Member" for more than 10 - 20 posts.

2048+ is PowerPoster (list here), but it seems there was a noticeable delay for you... and from what I remember that basically to be expected.

As upgrading to that level takes much more effort than other rank upgrades (you get moved to a different user group with more permissions, etc), I'm pretty sure it is done on a schedule rather than at the precise moment you get enough posts.

Yeah, I know but I am confused as to why I experienced a user title of "Ultra..." for a short amount of time?

Presumably you only get the proper title once you have been transferred to the group - as the proper title indicates that you have extra abilities etc (including changing the title!).

I can only assume that the title of Ultra is a leftover of previous times - as PowerPoster used to be 4k posts.


To save the moment of confusion (which admittedly happens to very few people) it would probably be better (if technically possible) for the "Ultra" title to be replaced with "Frenzied".

Yeah, it would save a lot of people the confusion! Although, I don't think many people realize the "Ultra" title because they are fussed with their current post count or user title. I guess I must be special then if I noticed something very minor on the forum.

I changed the "ultra" to "I'm about to be a PowerPoster".

Alternatively, I could changer it to Frenzied. (which actually would mean just dropping it)

It's probably best that way, as the people who are "waiting" for it wont be wondering why they aren't a PowerPoster when they've reached the amount posts.

Indeed - you had luck with timing to spot the "ultra", and reaching the rank is rather special too.

Rising to the rank of PowerPoster is a very rare thing... I just checked, and out of the 96034 members there are only 145 (minus moderators/admins) who have enough posts to be PowerPosters, and several of those left the forums before the limit was reduced from 4k!
