I wanted to submit an update to this issue as I now have it resolved. I know people might come to this thread by a search engine search looking for a solution, and wanted to document it here. Apparently the problem was a file version mismatch between about 4 different files that can be fixed by running the money central repair tool mcrepair.exe After running this tool, I was able to install the collectibles database program on my friend's computer.

I had originally ran it to fix an install shield wizard error for Power DVD 5.0 on her computer. The error was an unhandled exception error number 0x80070725 incompatible version of RPC stub. Running the money central repair tool seemed to clear up both issues. Not sure why running dcom98 didn't fix it, but mcrepair did.

The problem is a difference in file versions! Try downloading mcrepair and see if that fixes the problem.

hmm... if it is incompatibility, why do it run normally in runtime(vb6), is it because of the deployment package or my coding.... i have made my program bug free or close to that...
