I'm trying to install the MS Expression Blend 2 Trial that I downloaded from the MS website (twice) but when I get to the point in the install wizard that lets you choose where to install to, the Next button is greyed out

I've tried changing the path from the default C:\Program Files\Microsoft Expression to various other things but the NEXT button just stays greyed out. I have plenty of space on my hard drive, I'm logged in as an admin account (Windows XP not Vista too) and I've got .NET framework 3.5 SP1 installed...
Any ideas?

EDIT: Oh and when I click the Browse button and select a folder that way, the browse window just pops straight back up when I click OK instead of setting the textbox text to the path I selected... Something is majorly screwed with this installer and like I said its the second time I downloaded/installed it.

Here's the install log, but I dont think it will have anything important in as its not like I get any errors etc

can you post a screen shot of that step? There might be something else that is amiss.

But I downloaded it twice, several days apart

Did you download while behind the same proxy the second time?
Sometimes, when a download is corrupt, downloading again won't help, because the proxy has the corrupt version cached.

Nah no proxy either time. Personally I dont think a corrupt download file could do something as specific as making a button grey itself out.

Could you make a screenshot, as techgnome requested in post #2? From my experience, you're probably misinterpreting the information you have entered on that screen, so you think it is correct and complete, but the installer thinks otherwise.... It's happened to me more often than I'd like to remember.

lol I appreciate what you're saying but trust me, I am not. I'll be using the laptop again tomorrow at work so if I get chance I'll post a screenshot :)

Hehehe, not much you can do wrong with that one, I admit.
Have you tried typing a backslash after the path?

chris128

yep, and tried entering a path that already exists, and even a path on a totally separate drive, but it wont have it.
and like I said, the Browse button is screwed too, it just brings up the same folder browser dialog box over and over no matter what folder you select
