I am trying to re-register to this forum. The SPAM Question says There are 3 links at the top of the page. The first one says IT and the second one says Developer. What does the third say.
I can't see the toolbar, I tried 3 different browsers. It's cut off. I don't know what the third one is, could someone please post an answer to this? If I try to send an email to the web admin, it asks the same spam question. Thanks.

Wrong place for posting this sort of complaint... After 90 posts you should know that there is a Forum Feedback (http://www.vbforums.com/forumdisplay.php?f=6) area.
edit: btw, someone open similar thread (http://www.vbforums.com/showthread.php?t=551964) in there already so I would ask admins to merge the two.

If you have an Adblocker enabled, your going to have to disable it.
You can check any of the other Jupiter Media sites as they all have the same toolbar.

Yeah, I know! However, that is what the question refers to in the original post.

Actually with the newer versions of vB there is reCaptcha which is better

I would have to agree that a captcha would be better suited, as many people seem to have add-ons that block this top-bar. However I've come across sites that have awful captchas that I for the life of me cant figure out...I hope VBForums never gets them.
Also multi-color captchas arent very good. Being very slightly colorblind myself, I sometimes find it hard to distinguish certain characters in them.

We use captchas for most of our logins. Joe has chosen to use the question on the forums. The benefit of the question over captcha is that if you are blocking ads (and thus the toolbar) you will have a harder time getting into the forum. Since ads cover the cost of the forum, there are many that believe that seems fair.

The benefit is this stops bots. CAPTCHAs just amuse them for a moment.

I don't have any ad blocker, have scripting enabled, and am running IE7 and I do NOT see the toolbar. What might be the reason why?

If this is a test, then my answer would be "because your eyes are closed" :D (that was totally a joke).
The real answer could be that you've scrolled down the page.... (okay, that was a joke too).
In all honesty, based on your comments, I'm not sure. This will be one for Joe and Heidi to answer. (but I had to throw in my two hopefully funny answers ;) )

Disable firewall.
In order to register, you must disable all security controls you have in place. That makes sense.

@ Joe,
Better yet install a different firewall!

Firewalls tend to have content blocking. If you want, just disable that.
