Hello everybody,

I am in the process of making a program and would like to know if there is a service I can use to put a third-party advertisement on the program.

Thanks,
mburr

This is REALLY the wrong part of the forum to be asking that question. PM a mod and ask them to move the thread to the language forum of your choice. While you might get a reasonable answer here, you are much less likely to get anything valuable in Chit-Chat than you would in pretty much any other place.

That is true, I'll move it to Gen Dev.

why dont you just create and ad rotation yourself.

What did you have in mind?

Oh, just anything that will rake in the big bucks. And yes, if I have to, I'll start one of my own.

There are a lot of website ad companies that pay in different ways... i dont think there are any for actual programs... Im not sure how you would do this

Also, if your app contains a lot of ads, chances are, people wont want to use them.

I actually thought you were talking about a website and web ads. If you are talking about stand-alone Windows apps, can you imagine a program so unique that you could lard it up with ads and people would STILL pay to use it? What would the ad revenue stream be? With a web site you can evaluate how many people see the ads, and whether or not anybody interacts with them (even inadvertently). To do either with a program would cause outrage, as you would need to be able to log useage of the program and communicate it out. That would looks so much like a keylogger that if anybody knew you were doing it you software and your name would be trashed all over the web (think SONY root kit). So without being able to say how often the ad was even seen, what company would be willing to pay you ANYTHING for the right to add the ad? The only place you might get away with this is something like a game where you could blend the ad into the content.

Yeah, it's kind of like a commercial, isn't it? (And FYI, I am seeking to earn profits from ad revenue while earning just enough money from selling templates modeled after TV shows to cover the copyright licenses.) So, that said, I could just feature a section on my Web site where a company could go and sign up for an advertising account with a monthly fee. There, problem solved.

Advert rev isnt all that profitable unless you are getting a huge influx of people to your website which is no easy feat.
