    Question

I wrote a program and it works fine in both NT and in 98, but that was just using the project, not installing it. I used the P&D Wizard (please no booo's). Will that cause any problems with it being installed on both NT and 98? It only uses a few files:

    MSCOMCT2.OCX
    COMCAT.DLL
    MSVBVM60.DLL
    MSVCRT.DLL
    OLEAUT32.DLL
    OLEPRO32.DLL
    scrrun.dll
    VB6STKIT.DLL
    COMDLG32.OCX
    ASYCFILT.DLL
    MSCOMCTL.OCX
    MSINET.OCX
    STDOLE2.TLB

Is there anyway to check and see if these files are compatible with both NT and 98, other than installing and testing it on both?

    TIA,
    Richard

In thoery, the setup kit will work happily on all platforms, but I would certainly test it on every platform you will be delivering to. If those machines have a standard operating environment (SOE) setup (and most large corporation probaly will), then try and test it on a machine with e SOE alrady installed. All your propblems in setup kits will arise from versioning issues, so it's important to test the setup kits pretty thoroughly. Don't forget things like MDAC and DCOM98 if you are releasing database apps.

k, Thanks, I will test it on NT tomorrow. We have a COE/SOE in our environment. However, this is not for my company. Just an app I am writing for an individual user. They use both NT on their laptop and 98 on their desktop. (hehe seems kinda Bass Ackwards). This one doesnt require mdac or dcom, thankfully. So hopefully, I wont have any problems.

    Thanks for your reply,
    Richard
