accessing elements of a report programmatically

I tried searching the forums for this topic but I didn't find anything.

I know how to create an report with the wizard and link it up the my object - whatever it may be but I am trying to figure out how to manipulate the value of a field from the c# code behind.

I can find a lot of info on using crystal reports but it is heavily skewed to the wizards.
