[RESOLVED] Most Lucurative Languages

Hello,

I have two questions (I searched this forum prior to posting this):

1. Which are the most lucurative programming languages to learn for desktop and web applications?
2. Would learning Assembler make me more marketable as a future software engineer generally speaking?

According to Programming Language Popularity, C is the most popular, followed by Java and PHP/Python. (Not sure whether most popular translates to most lucurative?

I am currently learning Java and C++, and plan on learning VB, C# and
Assembler by 2010.

But if you are just in it for the $ then you will burn out within a few years. You have to really like the languages you write in in order to do well and persist in programming.

Assembly is less in demand but I bet they make good money

I really enjoy programming and would do it for free because I get such a sense of satisfaction having created this little world. And the more I learn, the bigger this world suddenly becomes and the freeer I become because I have more options that I can choose from.

Thats cool and the trait of a persistant programmer.

But still some languages are not "fun" to work with. I would try some languages and stick with th ones you like. Then see from those what the job listings are like and pay etc.

Thanks for your very helpful advice! Makes perfect sense. Learn a bunch of web AND desktop languages(don't limit myself to one type), find the ones I really enjoy, and persue jobs with those languages. That great. Thanks.

Actually most jobs now ask for both desktop and web development language experience.
