Aiight - I Need A Little Help (Im A Newbie)

Im making a little electronic buddy game thats going along great but I just wanted to know if you could put in animations in GIF format and have them work fine when viewed (full animation taking place - stopping - and returning to original image) or if I had to put every frame into VB individully and use that bilt in timing crap.

I wouldn't try the gif method; go with the blitting "crap" :)

A gif file can go crazy and you wont be able to stop the animation if you need to. Say your "buddy" has 3 poses (2 of them anims.)

1. Laughing
2. Turning around
3. Default (no anim)

If he's turning around and you, say, tell a joke, you could easily reverse the animation with blitting so it doesnt have to go through the whole process for him to turn back around and laugh at your joke.

Take bonzibuddy (search for bonzibuddy on INET); he's a good example of an electronic "buddy"

Why wouldn't you use the GIF? There are many controls and source code examples on using Animated GIF's at www.planet-source-code.com

I'm just saying that, in the end, you have more control with bitmaps than with gifs. For example, it's easier to switch between two bitmap frames than to switch between a gif frame in gif1.gif and a frame in gif2.gif.

But it's news to me that you can do lots with Gifs.
I say trust both of us and do the one that you're comfortable with.
