Hi there,
I dont know anything about java and have few questions, if someone can help please:

Q1) i would like to learn java, and found some tutorial online....and sample program too, what applications do i needs to install on fedora 8 to run, compile and execute the java code.

2) How to install java (where i can build the code and execute it) on fedora 8
3) which book will u recommend me to learn java quickly
4) actually i have an assignment of java networking code so any nice suggestion please...

A1) Sun Java Development Kit, you can find that in the Synaptic Package manager or what ever package manager comes with Fedora
2) Same as above
3) For a beginner I'd recommend "Java How to program (http://www.deitel.com/Books/Java/JavaHowtoProgram7e/tabid/1191/Default.aspx)" by Deitel and Deitel
4) If you have any specific questions we'll all be glad to help

so it means its already installed or is there any simple yum command to install it
second..how can i check that whether its install or not...?
yes i orderd that book....its look step by step instruction

Check out this page (http://news.softpedia.com/news/How-to-Install-Java-in-Fedora-Core-6-39724.shtml).. it's for Fedora 6, I don't know if the commands differ, if so just Google it
