Hi,
Here in the UK we have a service called the TPS (telephone preference service) where people register their details. Companies who use telemarketing campaigns get an updated list of registered numbers, monthly and do no dial these numbers. Persistant dialling of registered numbers can bring about prosecution.
Is there a similar system in the US? or any particular rules or regs specific to certain states with regard to telesales?
Any information welcome.

I found this information
Is there anymore I should be aware of?

Some individual states implemented something like that prior to the national registry. I don't know if any of the state lists still remain, since they are pretty much redundant now.
I have always wondered why new phone numbers are not added to the list automatically. Is there anybody out there who WANTS to get telemarketer calls?

You would think not, but people do buy from cold calls else we wouldn't do it.
It must be opt out for economic reasons rather than convenience of the public.

That's why they keep calling you - they already pegged you as a sucker :) . Just stop paying them and they'll be more than happy to disconnect your phone and not bug you anymore.
