Hi all.

I have a few questions.

1) How can you tell if a PC is 16-bit or 32-bit?

2) Can an app developed in VB5 or VB6 run on a 16-bit machine?

Thanks,

Chris

Hi.

I have a few more questions:

1)Is Windows 3.x 16-bit or 32-bit?

2)If a PC with Windows 3.x installed on it is upgraded to Windows '95, would it become 32-bit? (I'm assuming the answer to Question #1 is 16-bit.)

Thanks.

Chris

1) Anything in the Windows line-up before Win95 was 16 bit, (including Win 3x)

2) Basically, Yes. It does enable you to run most 16bit apps, but 16bit OS cannot run 32 bit program.

Chris, thanks for your response, but it confused me a little. From what you wrote, Windows 3.x is 16-bit; therefore, it should definitely run 16-bit apps.

My question is, once the PC with Windows 3.x installed on it is upgraded to Windows '95, will it run 32-bit apps?

Thanks,

Chris J.

It will be able to run 32bit apps because windows 95/98 is a 32 bit operating system.
