    Question Licence problem with MSComm

    Hi there

I want to use MSComm to do serial control from my VB6 application but whenever I try to use the MSComm component I get the error message "License information for this component not found. You do not have and appropriate license to use this functionality in the design environment". I've checked-out the relevant support info available on the microsoft pages and have checked that I have the MSCOMM32.OCX file in my Windows System32 folder. I have Visual Basic 6 and Visual Studio 6 installed and running under Windows 2000 and haven't got any problems with the other components I'm using. I am using the Learning Edition of VB6 and wondered whether the MSCOMM component is disabled in this version, whether-or-not the .OCX file is installed ..... anyone got any ideas on this ???

    Welcome to the forums.

I suspect you will need to upgrade your version of VB6.
