... when I submit a reply to a question and I don't get any repsonse.

Unless it's trivial stuff, I always put a lot of effort into my answers - including ensuring cross-browser compatability.

I know this is a frequent gripe but... well I loose interset in helping others.

If you think my code is crap and you'd rather I didn't bother, just let me know!

Really anoys me to mate. You try to help them and make their life easier and what do you get in return, sweet fa.

As I help out int the asp forum about the same as you, I must admit that the awnsers you give are normally very impressive and always right. What's your background into asp ?

Ian,

thanks for the recognition!

My ASP stuff is self taught. In fact, so is my Java and Javascript.

I had formal training in VB5 though!

I tend not to bother so much with the ASP forum these days because there seems to be an increasing number of people able to help out.

I've got one or two serious ASP apps running on my PC just for use on our intranet but I usually use Netscape Enterprise Server instead. Well, I say usually, but I haven't doen much of that lately either. I wrote a major prototype app running on Netscape Enterprise Server so it could be ported to a Sun Solaris box.

Yeah, my PC is begining to groan under the weight of the servers I've got running on it:

Personal Web Server running on port 80
Netscape Enterprise Server on port 81
Apache on port 82
and Tomcat on port 83

I'm a bit bogged down with VB stuff at the moment so the odd bit of Javascript comes as a welcome relief.

How about you Ian?
Is any of your work visible to the outside world?

Yeah one of my previos contracts was with online mortgages. basically the company I worked for has this site that mortgage brokers can pay for and have incorperated into their site so they can have proper on-line mortages. the sirte looks slightly boring but it is run over 40 site's and a style sheet for each of the site's to change the colour.

http://www.mortgagelinked.co.uk/partners.asp?id=ndl is the test partner

and to see it working in a partner go to http://www.ukmortgagesonline.co.uk

It's all run with com dll's accessing sql server

I'm with you there Mark.
And I don't like when people say, "any other ideas?"
I mean, they should say, "That did not help me, I am looking for ....[exactly]......Thanks."

Where are the people's manners? Grrr
I usually say "Thanks" and my last closing remarks for the thread. This at least let's people know that I have found what I am looking for.
