DVD Burning issues
Hi, I have a DVD + /- Burner, however when I want to burn data to a DVD disk be it DVD - R or DVD - R, I get the following message.
Disk required for compilation DVD + R / RW; DVD - R / RW ; DVD + R DC.
Disk in recorder empty.
What may be the cause is it the recorder that may have an issue ? Thanks

Re: DVD Burning issues
Below are some questions and things to check...
1) Are you sure you have the correct media? Meaning you are using a DVD +/- Disc and not a DVD DL +/- disc.
2) Are you sure the disc you are trying to use blank?
3) Are you sure your burning software supports DVD burning (may seem like a stupid question, but if its a really old version it may not)
4) Which software are you using?

Thanks for the Questions here are my replies.
1) Ive bought two sets of Blank DVD's one which read DVD + R and the other that reads DVD - R .
2) Yes they are blank.
3) Your third questin is not stupid at all because I am begining to suspect the software.
4) I am using nero express version 6.6.0.15

Re: DVD Burning issues
I thought Nero 6 supported DVD burning...but I'm not 100% on that. You can download a trial of the newest version of Nero and see if that makes a difference.
Other questions...
1) How much data are you trying to store on this disc?
2) Are you sure your DVD burner works?
3) Try updating your DVD burner drivers.

Re: DVD Burning issues
Is it USB burner?
I once had issue with external cd burner.
Could also be that you did not select the right drive (if you have more that 1 optical drives)

Nope it wasnt a USB Burner and I am sure about the drive due to the options it gives. What I am yet to try out is the software I will try a trial version of Nero as advised and see if it does the trick. Cheers

Re: DVD Burning issues
I once had such troubles and the cause was a low-quality blank disk. If it is of a low quality, than you should try a different brand blank diks.
