    Ram

Hi, recently my computer has been saying that i have 2 gigs of ram. Why would it be doing this? When i go to dxdiag it says 2 gigs but when i use a program like PC wizard it says i have 1. Before it always said that i had 1 gig but for some odd reason under dxdiag it is saying that i have 2. Can anyone help? Thanks in advance.

Yes... You should know exactly about your system configuration first.

If you right click on My Computer and click Properties, it will display how much RAM you have.

Always same value should be there in DirectX Diagnostic Tool, isn't it. Because both case refer the system utilities, right?

I believe so, yes (I've never used DirectX with anything, but I've read several articles on it.)

This is a good point. And, if this is the case, I would suspect it would be the DirectX return.

If I'm correct, virtual memory is a concept that allows programmers to use a very large range of memory or storage addresses for stored data. I believe that there are more explanations. My question is that, DirectX basically gives the system details, if so is DirectX use such stored data addresses.

    Re: Ram

must be something wrong with the way directx checks memory. I just checked mine and it is wrong on mine as well. This computer at one time had 256 meg of ram and now has 512 but dxdiag is reporting 256.

I've never found that DirectX gives the wrong values, except user faults.

    Re: Ram

update your motherboard driver. I had a similar problem with my onboard graphics it was saying that i only had 8MB after months of trying to fix it. I eventually got it right by eventually finding for the most updated driver for my motherboard and sound. Now it says 32MB fixed
