It is given that y varies inversely as x and y=20 when x=40
a) if x increased by 50%, find the percentage change in y.
I have worked out the solution, my answer is 33.3...%, is that correct?

Your solution is correct... except that it's a decrease, so it requires a minus sign: -33.333...%
...and you don't even need to know that y=20 when x=40, it's irrelevant.

ye, krtxmrtz is right. If your parameters are inversely combined on each other, there should be a - sign. Because one parameter is increasing the other related parameter should be decrease.

Most of the time people confusing with those tricky points.
