Given That the roots of the equation x^2 + ax + (a + x) differ by 2, find the possible values of the constant a.

ive been trying to do this sum but i keep getting the wrong answer, can anyone help???

Show us what you've done and where you're going wrong.

Literally all you need is the formula to solve quadratics and about seven lines of algebra.
