I'm wondering how many posters in the forums are Microsoft certified.

I am, I've done 70-176 VB6.0 desktop. Anyone else?

Karl Moore is - just pointing it out because he's not around the forums much.

Do you find it helpful in a business sense? That is, will
help find you more/better clients or jobs?

DerFarm, I found it useful to cover the Microsoft entire curriculum because I saw a few things I hadn't seen before (3 years VB coding).

I've spoken to a few of the agents who supply contractors to our company, they say there is a strong demand for certified people by the market here in Canberra and that the employers are willing to pay a premium for them.

Canberra has a high concentration of IT because a lot of government departments are here.

I've found our accountants and payroll people in particular like the certification and ask for me when they want a programmer :).

I'm going to sit the Desktop and Distributed exams within the next month, probably as soon as I get around to booking the,

The problem I have with them is that the questions are often very badly worded, and there seem to be an awful lot of questions about things like ADODC controls and other data bound controls, which I wouldn't use in a pink fit (I don't know any professional coders that do use databound controls). And a fair section the the P&D wizard, which is utter shite.

Still, for $165AUS, it's not to bad.

I was arguing with my wife a few years back and she said that she'd had enough and I ought to be certified.... So there you go, Microsoft can save your marriage...

Cheers,

P.

PS I think its a marketing scam.

When I told my manager I was certified and wanted an expense authorisation for the exam fee he mumbled about already knowing I was certifiable and he could have saved the money if I'd just asked him to begin with.:D
