I've seen a few threads here from people having problems with cookies across the different vbforums urls (www.vbforums.com, vbforums.com, etc). Wouldn't it be easier to just have the webserver redirect all urls to www.vbforums.com? This would seem to solve the problems as people would be logging in to the site from only www.vbforums.com.

You missed a few ;)
www.vb-forums.com
vb-forums.com
Yes that would be logical, but since cookies is not a big deal, why go through all the work of removing the websites just to add a redirect?

I would assume only having one database to manage would help.
I constantly get "invalid thread" errors and have to refresh or backup, and i have full cookie setting.

it is the same exact database. go to any of the URL's and they are the same:

then that means all the urls are pointing to the same place anyway.

They all use the same database on the webserver. Cookies are handled by the client browser, not the webserver.

What exact problem are you referring to? I have had one or two odd instances where it told me i wasn't logged in while i was logged in a thread in another tab. Is that it?

Here is how it goes down:
Most people login at "vbforums.com" simply because it is shorter then adding the "www." at the beginning.
Then they click a link on in a post that goes to "www.vbforums.com/..." and at that url, the cookie is not saved, that it shows you as not logged in

www and non-www are on the same cookie now. Log out and back in again and you should be logged in to both

I can't seem to see the button to mark the thread as resolved
The "Thread Tools" link just takes me to the bottom of the page, where i can't see any option for marking a thread "resolved".

Do you have JavaScript enabled?
I accidentally left the user-agent string as something else while doing some testing. Looks like googlebot doesnt support javascript :D
