runtime error "462

Hello All,

I'm getting runtime error "462 : Remote Server machine does not exist or unavailable" while accessing a COM component on a windows XP machine from my windows 2000 machine. I have turned off the firewall on the XP machine and also gave access and launch permissions to users "everyone;network;interactive;system". Still I am getting this error. The createobject call is immediately returning this error.

My COM server has user interface also, so the identity of the component is set to "interactive user" on both server and client.

Please help me out to solve this issue.

The error message means "A server parameter was specified, but the server could not be either reached or found." Can you ping the XP machine from the 2k machine? That's the first step. next is to see if you can see a shared folder on the XP machine from the 2k machine.
