How to Become Proficient in VB

Does anyone have suggestions on how to become proficient in VB? I have read Visual Basic 6 for Dummies and have been looking around on the internet but what I have read leaves LARGE holes of information. I am trying to develop a VB program and am lost!

I'm probably not the person to answer, but I'm gonna anyway. I think everyone is still looking to improve, I'd be surprised if someone knew it all.

Personally, I wouldn't consider myself proficient in VB. To be honest, I did before I read this forum, and realised just how much there is to VB6! I am always amazed at the potential to create very powerful apps.

I think most people will probably tell you to just go and try programming stuff. When you get stuck, you find out what the problem is, and you learn something. Doesn't mean you have to be pleased when you get stuck of course :)

If you post your problem on this forum, there's a lot of very knowledgeable people who are more than happy to give you a hand, and that'll help you speed up finding the lutions to the problems you will inevitably have.

So what's the problem at the moment?

It depends whether you want to spend money on courses or not. I know that there are some online tutorials etc but often they cost. The best way, at least the way I did it, is to start with some smaller apps and ask questions. It depends on the type of program you're trying to make. Some places just do the basics to VB and leave the advance things for you to discover.
