As you can tell, I am bored today.

First of all, I am allergic to them. That can be part of the reason. They make me sneeze, my eyes tear, and I get itchy all over.

Secondly, they don't like water! What kind of friggin' mammal doesn't like water? A stupid one! "Excuse me Mr. Tubbins, it's time for you bath."
"No thank you, I'll just lick myself clean!"

Thirdly, cats are not dogs. You can play with and they are your best friend. They give you unconditional love until you spade or neuter them. Then they forget and forgive you after a couple of days. Dogs are fun. Cats are not. They would rather you clean their dirty, disgusting, germ-filled litter box than to have anything to do with you.

Forthly, cats cough up hairballs from cleaning themselves. And then they leave these hairballs in your shoes for you!

The one good thing about cats is that they make good Chinesse food.

...and that is my rant for the day.

Not to mention they'll scratch you if you pick them up and spin them around by their whiskers.

I like cats!

Jan 4th, 2001, 01:43 PM
For almost all of my adult life I have had at least one
cat. I currently have 3, and yes, if you're a fascist you
won't like cats. Just goes to show how discerning cats are.

BTW, I have 3 dogs as well. Big, rambunctious, slobbery
things: Scottish Deerhound, Terrier/JR, and blonde.

I like cats too....but...my husband told me I could get a cat if I found a good divorce lawyer...bottom line is I'd rather have my husband than a cat...so I like dogs instead.

I have a dog. He is a mutt. Part German Sheppard and Border Collie. My fiance and I got him from a shelter. People in the U.S. (idiots as I call them) insist on getting "pure-bread" dogs. I have heard of people paying as much as $1500 for a dog! Mutts make the best dogs and everyday hundreds are euthanized because shelters cannot handle them all. I hate people that "insist" on having pure-breads. If you go to a shelter and there is a pure-bread puppy there, than good for you. I just can't stand that people spend all that money for a pet.

My dog rules. He is a big, stupid, fun-loving, socialable addition to our family. He hates cats too.

I have a chocolate lab. She is pure bred and I did pay $150 dollars for her. I had three small children and my husband worked nights when we got her. Labs have a reputation of being very gentle around children and are also very smart. She has been a great watchdog and companion for ten years. She was worth every penny we paid for her and I don't think it was a stupid decision at all. Mutts do have their virtues too but I don't think paying to get what you want is stupid...if you can afford it.

PJB - would have been heaven for me!

Katie - Yeah, it's your choice. I'd probably pay for a purebred if I wanted one - most of the dogs people I know have are just whatever they got because they liked them :)

PJB
Jan 4th, 2001, 02:02 PM
believe me it wasn't

JPRoy392
Jan 4th, 2001, 02:05 PM
You're right, Katie. If you can afford it, then do so. I just hate the fact that there are so many animals put to death everyday because they are not purebred. $150 for that lab is not bad at all. I am glad that your dog is such an important part of your family. Check out the prices for purebreds now adays. For $150 they may let you pet the dog, and that is it.

All labs make good dogs. They are a good breed.

I've got 4 cats, and 2 dogs...

the last week my cat bit me....
I can still see the marks on my wrist.... :(

sammy(one of my dogs) is a 1/2 pecanese 1/2 pomeranian... I think he is a show dog.... I've seen others like him for like $500+ (we got him free, because we rescued him from the trash at a taco restraunt)

and the other is really stupid..... I am not sure of her breed, my dad found her when he was at work...

I have a few pictures of my 1st dog(sammy)

http://dewrenn.virtualave.net/sammy1.jpg
http://dewrenn.virtualave.net/sammy2.jpg

on one of the pictures he looks high because he just ate some catnip....

I know it's not supposed to affect dogs, but he is not a normal dog..... he is really smart.... but he bites too much.... but his mouth is small, so it doesn't hurt... :p

HarryW

Well, I hate (most) small yappy-type dogs, they shout all the time and it gets on my tits. Cats are okay, I have a cat.

I don't believe any of you that say your dogs are smart. Especially labradors  They are many things, but definitely not smart. Cute, yes. Lovable, yes. Gentle, yes. Smart, no. My dad has a labrador, and it is probably the stupidest dog I have ever come across. She's still a great dog though :)

Benjamin
Jan 4th, 2001, 04:05 PM
I hate it when people say their dogs are smart too... but mine really is...

I can't explain it.. it's just some of the things he does...

HarryW
Jan 4th, 2001, 04:36 PM
When I meet your dog and I can have a conversation with it in English, then I'll believe it's clever.

PJB
Jan 4th, 2001, 04:37 PM
i'd think it was even more clever if it spoke in Latin

Jan 4th, 2001, 04:38 PM
Harry, I'm with you. When Dennis' dog has a conversation
with you, I'll say you're intelligent.

Now HORSES, on the other hand...dumber than turkeys.

FINALLY DerFarm told a joke that included me or something that I Like that was not directed toward me!!!

barrk
Jan 4th, 2001, 05:05 PM
Harry...how come it's okay to say you're Dad's dog is stupid but not to say mine is smart? You either can or cannot measure an animal's intelligence. You can't have it both ways! If you measure intelligence by whether you can speak English (or Latin) then most people in the world don't measure up!

what about a dog who could juggle?

HarryW
Jan 4th, 2001, 05:19 PM
Do you have a dog that can juggle?

I'd say it was well trained.

PJB
Jan 4th, 2001, 05:22 PM
no, but if i saw one juggling like encyclopedias or something i would think it was smart

barrk
Jan 4th, 2001, 05:23 PM
I choose to delude myself...I think my dog is smart...she would agree with me I'm sure if she could talk...in Latin OR English.

HarryW
Jan 4th, 2001, 05:23 PM
I'd think it was smart if it was reading them at the same time.

Benjamin
Jan 4th, 2001, 05:23 PM
my dog can hold and drag things with his "hands"....
if I tried enough, am sure I could teach him how to juggle...

Benjamin
Jan 4th, 2001, 05:24 PM
baark:

my dog is modest, yours isn't... so, nanee nanee nanee(wait isn't this last one sposed to be a "boo boo"?;)) :p

;)

PJB
Jan 4th, 2001, 05:26 PM
yes, if the dog was reading them it would be rather impressive as long as it was juggling them at the same time, otherwise it's just another dumb juggling dog

barrk
Jan 4th, 2001, 05:33 PM
BTW PJB...my dog likes cheese...does that prove she's smart?

PJB
Jan 4th, 2001, 05:35 PM
ok, so barrk has a smart dog whether it can juggle and read or not

Benjamin
Jan 4th, 2001, 05:39 PM
I forgot to mention that, my dog LOVES CHEESE!!!

my dad has to buy a 3lb block of american cheese every 2 weeks.......

thats the only thing my dog will eat.... he even prefers cheese over ham, and steak...

Jan 4th, 2001, 07:20 PM
Cats destroy the native fauna in oz. That's right the little bastards go out at night and hunt down and kill all the cute little furry creatures. During the day they destroy the local lizard populations. Cats and cat lovers deserved to be lined up against a wall and shot.

Dogs are particularly stupid creatures and also deserve to be put up against the wall and shot, also with the owners who buy them as little puppies and then dump them when they get big.

Dennis your dog only likes cheese because it pretended to be a mouldy block of cheddar in order to get thrown out of the taco bell before becoming the main ingrediant.

Potaroos are the caper, smart good looking and they eat funnel webs. Gotta love em. So of course the government doesn't allow citizens to raise them, they would rather citizens raised cats which then go on and destroy the local environment.

I swear if a cat could talk it would be an *******.

I have a dog..and i love him..he is so cool... he is a full bred pit-bull.. and he is not vicious either.. we didnt raise him from a pup to be mean.. he is just playful..hehe too say the least..we named him "red" ...well frankly because his body color is reddish-brown... i dont think calling him "brown" would sound as cool or be appropriate ;)

Dogs are not stupid..they are just dogs...and that is that..

Benjamin
Jan 4th, 2001, 08:14 PM
pitbulls are f-ing HUGE dogs.... there is one on my block... he is really friendly, BUT I am scared like **** of him......

it's not that he's mean, but he's just a puppy and he likes chasing you.. especially if you are running....

but one time this little **** that lives on our neighborhood really pissed the dog off, and it bit him..... hehehe.... he is a dick(the kid that got bit)

I myself have two cats (had to have 2 so the one wasn't lonely). I saved one of my cats from the pound and then was given another one from a friend who found a lost kitten. My cats are much easier to take care of than a dog. All I have to do for them is change the cat box and make sure their is food in the bowl. And when they snuggle with me at night, they keep me warm, and don't snore like my fiance does. One of them is declawed and fixed so far. I don't have to worry about them being around my 11 month old son, because the one that is declawed won't even be in the same room with him, and the one that's not declawed loves attention from him. He can pull a whole handful of hair out of her and she thinks she's getting a really good massage. I did name them kind of strange for being cats...their name are Scooby and Scrappy, like on the cartoon Scooby Doo.
