Ok got a grpahics program written in C++, runs no problems in MS DOS Win98 and Unix. Client uses IBM with OS/2 and you guessed it the friggin program wont work. Now we have to add to the documentation...Does not support OS/2.

On Which Platform did you compile the Executable ?

You should try compiling the program on a Platform similar to the target system..

Waddya mean "What's OS/2"

Your OS History is very important. OS/2 was the product that should have been Windows NT. OS/2 was targeted at the 286 (Dumb) and was meant to release the world from the clutches of DOS. It was a joint development between Microsoft and IBM and was killed by the success of Windows 3.0!

Hmmm. Microsoft shafting a software competitor - couldn't happen, could it.

Jethro, serves you right for targeting your products at the Evil Empire anyway.

Cheers,

P.

OS/2 was a joint development between IBM and MS, and was meant to be the next step from DOS. IBM did not want to aim at the 386 chip for fear of loss of sales from their mini division and thus loss their lead in the PC wars and notably the OS wars. MS was developing windows at the same time with Gates making the decision to go full ahead with Windows after the frustration of working with Big Blue.

We use Symnatex C++ which allows deployment to Windows/Mac OS/Unix and Linux we only just discovered. Have never had a problem with knocking up a piece of code on a unix box and then deploying to either Mac or Windows.

O/S 2 is fruit loop city.

Yeap.....but not for much longer have convinced them to switch to Win98 SE. Guess who is going to have a few funned filled weeks canning OS/2 from 30 or so PCs.

Paul

Why don't you just walk out of here and head off to your nerdy Linux sites. Actually am perfectly happy with MS forcing a standard on the desktop. Would you really want to spend the day coding printer drivers, which you had to do pre DOS days.

I knew you were only sledging me a bit. 3-0 eh? So it is true, Australian cricket is in decline!

As a Hampshire supporter, I am used to decline (come on Shaney, bowl us into the second division - and leave that barmaid alone!)

OS/9 is a Unix variant OS.
I was using it on a Motorola 68000

Windies trailing by 89 with 9 second innings wickets in hand. So we shouldn't have to bat again.

Kiwis totally demolise the Zimbabwians in the second one day game to bring some sanity back to proceedings.

PaulW

If we can only beat your lot 3-0 we will have done badly, after all the kiwis even managed to beat you in the last series....and in England yet!

Ian

The company is Apple with the greates current PC on the market the G4. Love that machine, pity it has to have that shambles of an OS on it, though Phantom is valiently trying to install Linux on one.
