[RESOLVED] Unsafe Files?

Now while I am on a roll here’s another one Unsafe Files? What’s that all about if your (my) installation needs to distribute and install these files what do I do? If the ones on my system are not safe but ********** says I need to install them were do I get some safe ones? My system at the moment is that I keep installing the files until my applications work safe or unsafe am I wrong?

I really don’t know which why I am asking in the first place?

Unsafe files means that they could possibly cause damage to the system or cause other programs on the system to not operate or fail to operate properly. This may be due to a different version being deployed than the programs on the system already uses. Especially if you deploy an older version. Research needs to be done by the person creating the installation on if they should deploy a SP that contains the associated file. This is the preferred method.

Two questions arise from your reply


1, What is an SP?

2. If ********** says my application needs the file installed then what do I do? Surely if I don’t install it my application will not work? Can I just install it without the “ignoreversion” flag set in that way only newer files will get used?

1. SP - Service Pack

2. You should read the documentation on that. It is fully explained on what to do and why you do it. You should NEVER install with the ignoreversion unless you really know what you are doing. Basically that flag is for data files and such.
