Ha hah...
Here is the solution

The date was given in the british date format.
ie.. dd/mm/yy

So for americans the date will be in mm/dd/yy
and the american 01/01/01 came after 5 or so hours
after the british 01/01/01.

Ha.hah....You have been mocked..ha..hah..

Worst joke of the Year...award goes to me...

888, 1999, 2000, 3111: Each of these years has/had a special date.

Next hint: August 888, November 1999, February 2000, and November 3111.

Think of 28 August 888, 19 November 1999, 02 February 2000, and 11 November 3111.

28/08/888, 19/11/1999, 02/02/2000, 11/11/3111.

28/08/888: Last date with all even digits until 02/02/2000
19/11/1999 last date with all odd digits until 11/11/3111.
