TITLE: Visual Basic 6.0 Developers (2)

DURATION: 12+ months

LOCATION: San Francisco, CA

OVERVIEW:

Our client has a large suite of applications which have been built in Visual Basic 6.0 and that ride on top of ADO, SQL Server 2000 and Oracle 10G. They are looking for Senior Developers who are still interested in maintaining, customizing and improving their Visual Basic 6.0 code.

NOTE: Your Visual Basic 6.0 applications will be interacting with other VB.Net, C#, ASP.Net applications and this is why we've mentioned that those technologies are extremely nice to have. You will have a good amount of exposure to these more advanced technologies throughout the course of your contract.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

-Provide Maintenance/Sustaining Engineering for core Visual Basic 6.0 strategic systems
-Analyze defects with managers, colleagues and users to determine root cause.
-Prepare specifications and code utilizing best practices for software development. This includes detailed designs, unit test plans, and support of components through the entire SDLC.
-Provide estimates to complete maintenance tasks.
-Work with quality assurance and engineering management toward final deployment of system into production.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

5+ years VB6 development using ADO, COM/DCOM/COM+
5+ years Relational Database experience. Specifically, MS SQL and Oracle. Must have MS-SQL 2000/T-SQL and Oracle (8/9)/ PL/SQL development including stored procedures, triggers

HIGHLY DESIRED SKILLS: (not required if you're a pro at the above skills)

1+ years Net object oriented programming development (using VB.Net/C#) including ADO.Net, XML, Remoting, Threading, Services & Serialization
1+ years Web development using ASP and ASP.Net
