    Arrow Mathematics Software

    Hi there,
I'm going to write a program about mathematics that could do mathematical operations. About this, I have my friends helping me write it. If it becomes a complete software in Math, i.e sketching functions, solving equations and many other thing in math, would it be valuable to buy? If I'm gonna sell it as an official software in the world, how much you think will it cost? and how many copies of it will be sold? I mean how many would pay money for it?
And of course I'm sure it will take much time to make; Maybe about 2 or 3 years.
I would be grateful if you answer my questions.
    Thanks

Depends how much you wanted to charge, and what it could do. If it is just going to be another version of the Windows calculator, then no.
There are several big beasts in the computer maths world; Maple, Mathematica and MathCAD are probably the biggest.
Wossname (on these Forums) is writing a command-line one for Linux, and that'll probably be free. I would imagine that there are many others out there as well.

So by all means go for it, but don't expect to retire from the proceeds, unless you figure out a way to do something incredible that nobody else can do.
    I use VB 6, VB.Net 2003 and Office 2010

    Code:
Excel Graphing | Excel Timer | Excel Tips and Tricks | Add controls in Office | Data tables in Excel | Gaussian random number distribution (VB6/VBA,VB.Net) | Coordinates, Vectors and 3D volumes

like what zaza said. You really have to do something amazing with it to make people buy yours and not the name brand software. It sounds really cool though. I might attempt to make something like that. Maybe to solve Quadratic Equations. Thoes are very time consuming problems lol

    good luck.

    Hi, thanks for your replies.
The software I'm going to desing would be a powerful one. I've thought of the aspects of developing such softwares and I will use many book in math for improving its performance. Of course I know a simple math software would not be valueable for paying any price and it must have amazing feature(s) as you said.

I will appreciate any other comments
    Thanks again
