n-tier Good Resource Needed

I'm looking for a good resource on the steps needed to talk build a 3-tier application. Really any good site or info will do. I'm mainly intrested in:
1. How to communicate between the client side and an MTS business middle tier.

2. How do I use MTS? How do I add the middle tier?

I know it is broad so any direction would be appreciated.
