Sorry for the non descript title, it's pretty much all I can remember about what im about to ask.

A few years ago back in my university days when learning about AI and training data etc we used some software which was pretty basic but did the job of predicting outcomes through the supply of training data.

I think the example we used was pretty basic something like predicting who would win the football league after supplying information such as team values international players etc based on past information.

Does anyone know any software which sounds similar to this? Or even what the real search terms I should be using to find out about this stuff. Like I said sorry about the vagueness but it's been a while.
