Ive got Fedora Core 6 running now, but I cant use my Netgear WG311 wireless network card without drivers.
I felt like Ive looked everywhere, I found this (http://www.fedoraforum.org/forum/showthread.php?t=43718), but after typing "yum install madwifi" it looked like it worked for 5 minutes but then I got the error message:

Transaction Check Error: package kernel-2.6.20-1.2933.fc6 (which is newer than kernel-2.6.20-1.2925.fc6) is already installed

Could someone help me with this?
This is making me crazy.

Did that actually stop the installation or did it continue? I wouldn't normally expect that having a newer version of a library would cause a problem, unless there was something specific that has now been removed in the newer version.

You could try installing from source instead. They seem to have up-to-date tarballs of the source.

it stopped the installation. Plus it did so now I have two Fedora core 6 options in my boot menu, with two different version numbers.

Litlewiki was helpful enough to point me to the Ubuntu 7 Beta distro, which actually identified my network card right away, no extra drivers needed. So im replacing Fedora with Ubuntu. Thread kinda resolved:)

Well Fedora doesn't include native support for certain wireless cards because they're proprietary. You should have downloaded them and compiled the source, it's something you're going to need to get used to doing anyway.

Ubuntu makes baby Jesus sad.
