SMTP Server
Hi All.
I'm interested in sending email with one of my programs without using an outside SMTP source like mail.hotmail.com, and instead using localhost.
Has anyone seen any classic VB examples of this?
Here's a program that does exactly what I'm looking for:
http://www.softstack.com/freesmtp.html
Reasons:
1 - This allows you to send your email using localhost as your smtp server (because this program makes your computer the smtp server) - over any port, even. Some ISPs block ports 25, 2525 and other ports associated with email sending, but with a program like this you don't have to worry about that.
2 - I think using an outside smtp server like hotmail, or gmail is fine for personal programs, and such, but if you're going to make a commercial product you can't use them, and more over it would be quite unprofessional.
Thanks =)

Re: SMTP Server
You can use freesmtp to do what you want. Install it and use MAPI or CDO to send your mail. There are MAPI and CDO examples here.
The most difficult part of developing a program is understanding the problem.
The second most difficult part is deciding how you're going to solve the problem.
Actually writing the program (translating your solution into some computer language) is the easiest part.
Please indent your code and use tags around it to make it easier to read.
