I had no idea where to post this, so i posted it here. In the corner of your windows machine, what is that start button? Is it a pic file gif, jpg etc or is it just Text.

Im asking because I cant find it anywhere in windows and I want to change it to something else.
Any one know??

It's probably text, how could it otherways change it fonts/color. You could probably skin it by subclassing its wm_paint event and stuff, haven't tried it though

Some guy named Brij Mohan sent me this code for how to change the picture for the start button. I don't know how dangerous it is, it's probably very very dangerous. So use at your own risk and becareful!


1) Create a Startup disk

2) Restart the system(with the start up disk in the floppy drive)

3) At A:\ , Goto C:\Windows

4) Now enter the command , Edit/70 Explorer.exe

5) Press pagedown until you reach line number 3035 & 3036

6) You can see a Club sign followed by S t a r t

7) Be Very Careful,No space or any symbol should not be typed accedently, this may corrupt explorer.exe.

8) Move the curser on the "S" (of S t a r t), Press the insert button, Carefully replace S t a r t with any five alphabets or symbols

9) After typing press Alt, then save

10) Press Alt again and exit explorer.exe

11) Go to A:\, restart the system by pressing reset button and remove the start up disk.




He did ask me if I could write VB code for it, I couldn't, I didn't want to take the risk. Maybe you could code in VB for it, kedaman? hehe, your smart, if something goes wrong, I'm sure you can fix it :rolleyes:.

A program called "Windows Administrator" does that. It also has a chess game in it that takes up over half the program :)

damn, there not that many lines when i open it with edit/70, maybe i have another version of explorer.
