Hey John, was checking out this site for a game I play.
It has a type of forums.

http://www.subspacearena.com/cgi-bin/ikonboard/ikonboard.cgi

It has:

color ()
font size ()
font name ()
a message center for members to leave messages for other members (a messenger, kind of thing)

That's about it. Stuff that the forums here don't have. Everyone has asked for a chat in the past, that's not the best idea, but what about leaving a message to someone ? (And not sending one by email, this option should still remain available though).
And what about changing font face color and size ? That'd also be neat.
Perhaps you could spoil me and satisfy my needs? :D
I know you could probably do it, your John! You can do anything! :)

Hope you will do these few (easy?) things for me and for everyone else.

..just tryin' to make Vb-World a better place .

Thanks John.

And perhaps, you could keep the [color] [size] tags, but also have it like:

[font color=red size=1 face="Arial"]Hi World

It'd be a purdy neat thing :).

"you're John!" not "your John"...

At the moment, I'm slaving away over creating a new version of this software (with the help of some other people too!).

Check out the demo here:

http://beta.jelsoft.com/

This demo is not finished yet, but significant progress has been made towards getting it finished. Some of those suggestions are already in it. Those that aren't, we can discuss once we have the new version up and running.

All the best,
John

The beta site is excellent. It's got loads of stuff which people have been asking for for ages. When does it get rolled out ?

The demo is really good. But something I noticed right away is the weird colour combination used in the stripes between forums, and in the stripe that is supposed to show the members currently online. The colour combination makes it difficult to read out the text displayed in these stripes.

Perhaps you could use a White colour for the fonts...

Overall the look and feel is vastly improved, although I would miss the old Forum look ...

Good work, and it would be a good idea to let all us members know how you did it, especially the problems that you faced and how you overcame them...

vBulletin is completely template driven, so there's no reason why we can't keep the old colours / design.

That is just the default design on show there.
