    Density of water: 1.0 g/cm3
    Conversion factor: 1 cm3 = 1 ml

    All the way through, then:
    1.0g/cm3 * 1cm3/ml * 1000ml/l * 0.001kg/g = 1.0kg/l

That is, 1 litre of water has a mass of 1 kg.
