rlculver,
Dreamweaver is the best HTML editor that I have ever used. I find it the easiest to work with, the most intuitive, and has the most features with which to work. I get the most use out of its CSS, SSI, and DHTML features.
I intend to try out UltraDev, the extension to Dreamweaver that offers a ton of support for server-side scripting tools such as Perl, PHP, and ASP.
I agree with kovan -- Microsoft Visual InterDev is the easiest tool with which to write active server pages. Next in line, I would place ASP+.

I've found Microsoft FrontPage 2000 to be very easy to use.

Judging by your username, I'd say you're a little biased. But FrontPage is a very formidable opponent to Dreamweaver.

I like dreamweavers interface, but I find it infuriating that it cant remember your site structure (at least on my network it cant). I often have to redefine my sites 3 or 4 times a day. If only macromedia would fix this in the next release, i think it would be nigh on perfect...

I think Allaire Homesite is the best HTML editor I've used. I dislike WYSIWYG editors.
Interdev is easy to do ASP in, but it doesn't work the way I would want it to work. It seems to cripple you if your not working with a web server.

yeah, well what i do is make different files that have certain functions that i use over and over and then i just use them in an include file. Or i just take work that i have previously done, and then copy/paste it.

Well at the moment I am learning Dreamweaver at college, and soon be writing .PHP scripts. I would tend to think that Dreamweaver is best at this.
But still like the ease of use of Frontpage!!!!!!!
