Identification of trees

I am going to be doing some Cold-Weather camping during my winter break,

and I need a website that identifies most of the well known trees...

ex:

Willow
Birch
Oak
Ash
etc.

actually, I am interested in Binary Tree's... :)

I've been trying to learn them for the past month, but I have never found time....

Trees are those big plants with leaves and branches.:rolleyes:

Why do you need to identify a tree? Is this for a project or something? Try whatever your local Forest Service is called.

What the hell is cold-weather camping....besides the obvious?

I need to identify trees because obviously I am going to need a fire, and I need to know which trees are which so I can pick the best burning(hardwood) trees...

and cold weather camping, is when you camp in cold weather

I prefer my trees soft and mushy, not hard. :)

In oz you caren't charge around the bush burning whatever wood you happen upon, cause this would destroy the natural habitat of the fauna and flora. Of course l realise thet the US doesn't follow international environmental guidelines.

Ok so what is the reverse of cold weather camping, hot weather camping????

well, I am not charging around the bush burning whatever I happen apon...
it's a planned trip, and it's on my property..

incase there are more people like jethro here, no not the property that I live on, i have about 20 acres of forest...

From the LawnMower school of Gardening:

Grass must be cut, generally in a fortnightly timeframe,
therefore the following definitions are operant:

1. Flowers must not be cut. Flowers will be found
behind a (preferably) decorative barrier. Therefore,
anything behind a barrier is a flower and should not be cut
with a lawnmower.

2. Trees are too big to cut with a lawnmower. If it is
not too big to cut with a lawnmower, then it must be some
form of grass.

3. Therefore, grass is anything not behind a decorative
barrier and can be run over by a lawnmower.

Benjamin, it's not so hard to start a fire!
Any DRY tree will do the job. When i say
dry i don't mean if it is wet, i mean if it is fresh, the
more fresh, more trouble it will be to start your faya!

Good thing to do for winter camping, is to dig a hole where
your fire will be, that way the wind will not stop you fire.
If you can,built snow wall around you fire,not too close,if u
know what i mean!!!

I just need to be able to identify hardwood, so I can have some good long burning wood.... so I don't have to get as much....

Yes, I am, but that has nothing to do with this.....
it's gonna be friggin cold where I am gonna go camping... and if I get out(away from the fire) too much, I might get frostbyte or something.. :eek:

but the clothes rated below 0°F are realy expensive...
so I'll have to do with lots of clothes and a blazing fire...
