Can I only make Windows 98/2000 Apps in C++ by using Visual C++??? And how can a poor student like me, get fx. Visual Studio or C++ Builder to a fair price????

You can use most C++ compilers. You can get the Borland compiler for free from their website.

Microsoft so a student licensing you pay £80 and fill out a form, send it off. They then send you visual studio minus a box and manuals (they can be brought seperately)

I have heard, that you can't compile the programs with the student version....is this true???

Its true, im just not sure what the url for the student licensing is, have a look around microsoft.com p:s its visual studio enterprise 6
