Why are you vegetarian?

Vegetarianism is a choice, meaat-eating is an instinct, or so I'm told anyway, right Sopht? ;)

HarryW
Dec 9th, 2000, 09:40 AM
Wow, are you missing out :) There are sooooooo many meat-based delicasies that I just couldn't live without, like kebabs for starters. Then there's pepperoni on pizza, bacon and eggs, sausages, chicken salad sandwiches, chilli con carne, bacon double cheeseburgers, Kentucky fried chicken, chicken kievs..... I just couldn't have it any other way.

Were you brought up vegetarian or did it just kind of develop?

(Don't worry I'm not trying to convert you or anything ;))

It does make some sort of sense about what he (denis leary) is saying...

HarryW
Dec 11th, 2000, 12:36 AM
Yeah I think that's probably it. I mean I can see that you don't like the idea if you've never really thought of it as normal. I have never eaten offal of any kind, except occasionally in steak and kidney pie and I don't realy like it, and I just hate the thought of eating it.

Have you ever tried it? Not that it matters much to me :) When/if you have kids though, do them a favour and don't bring them up vegetarian ;)

Prime rib, baked potato (lathered in butter and sour cream), corn on the cob, carmel lathered chocolate cake, and a strawberry daiquiri to top it all off. (I love the Outback Steakhouse!)

Dec 12th, 2000, 12:48 AM
Seafood of all varieties.

Steak.....NY Cut....

Salad.......

Italian.....

Indian.....lamb korma etc etc etc. Think l might catch some Piar special on the way home, (a spicy chicken dish).

kovan my man

kiwi curried mussels....oh and oysters.....damn am leaving right now for food.

smh
Dec 12th, 2000, 08:32 AM
I love the Outback Steak house. It's even better when you go during a slow time. They serve you fresh baked bread and butter while you wait for the main course. Yummmmm.... And the prime rib is really juicy. Well, I think I know where I'm going out to this weekend...

kovan

jethro
they are the main thing we eat in the summer and when its not to cold out to barbaque

just the smell of them makes you full
mmm (ok i better stop thinking about food now) :)

Dec 12th, 2000, 09:18 AM
Gumbo.

Thick and rich with shrimp, fish, andouille, chicken, okra,
corn, tomatoes, and literally anything else in the house.
Spiced to bring tears to your eyes, making you drink Dixie
Voodoo Bock Beer. Anyone can burn meat, it takes a COOK to
make gumbo. Of course, sherry sippers wouldn't know.

honeybee
HOLY CRAP MAN
it was just a question
since some religions in india believe the cow to be sacred
and they dont eat cow
IT WAS ONLY A QUESTION

I don't know why you try to relate everything (at least most of them) to religion. Trying to tease me?

well let me see why i related to religion/belief system
the above reason, and the fact that my religion says dont eat certain meats i thought yours said dont eat meat at all

and no why would i tease you? you took it WAY to offensively, when i simply asked a question
SORRY
gee

my favorite food is pizza...
and after that it's meat...... all kinds... beef, venison, chicken, rabbit, duck, goose, pheasant, grouse, squirrel, anything I can get my hands on :D

Dec 12th, 2000, 01:38 PM
Did ya ever have collie, Dennis? Tastes a lot like
'possum, real greasy.

Benjamin
Dec 12th, 2000, 02:15 PM
never had either of those..

but there are some things that I want to try:

Moose
Elk
Bear
Etc.

Benjamin
Dec 12th, 2000, 02:30 PM
well, not any type of meat,
first I have to know what it is, if it's something like a dog or a cat... then I won't eat it...
I have never been offered a dog or a cat, and am glad for that..

but anything you can buy in stores, or is safe to eat... yep I'll eat it... :)

Dec 12th, 2000, 02:34 PM
Cat? What's wrong with cat. Roof rabbit. Marinades well.

Benjamin
Dec 12th, 2000, 02:47 PM
I have seen people eat scorpians

Dec 12th, 2000, 02:55 PM
Never had a scorpion. If you're going to eat cockroaches,
though, make sure you take the legs off.

Benjamin
Dec 12th, 2000, 03:00 PM
thanks for that info, but I don't think I'll ever need it....

smh
Dec 12th, 2000, 03:15 PM
I think I just lost my appetite

Dec 12th, 2000, 03:19 PM
Believe it or not, roaches are relatively tasteless. The
chitin extremely high in proteins, and the damn things are
ubiquitous. What more could you want?

Benjamin
Dec 12th, 2000, 03:21 PM
have you ever eaten a roach?

smh
Dec 12th, 2000, 03:24 PM
Yuck.

I'll stick to beef and chicken. Where I come from they are 'ubiquitous' too. (Had to look that word up to see what it meant, so I decided to use it in a sentence.)

PS - means everywhere

Lets stop this insect talk....its taking my mind off of steak!!!!!!!!!!! :o

mmmmmmmmmmmmmm...steak...greasy...I don't like any toppings on my cheesesteak...just the cheese...

Dennis...would you eat Dimava?

Okay I've used "..." too much...should go now...bye :)

Dec 12th, 2000, 03:30 PM
Yes. Also, grasshoppers (fried), ants (in chocolate),
collie (stewed), 'possum (fried), and rattlesnake (baked).

Never had haggis, though. Sounds too nasty for words.

Benjamin
Dec 12th, 2000, 03:38 PM
eat dimava?
ewwww, ewwww, I am not gay you..... eww.....

there are 2 meanings of "eat" it depends on how you use it... think about it... ewwww...

No worm omelettes DerFarm? You disappoint me :)

Personally, I would eat cat, I don't know about dog. I wouldn't eat any kind of insect by choice, except maybe a honey ant (or whatever they're called). Not exactly sure what a possum is, but I probably would. Tried ostrich, it's a bit dry. Maybe it was just the cut I had, I'm not sure.

I've heard that over the course of their life, the average person eats something like 10 spiders during their sleep, so in all probability I have eaten a spider or two by now. Also, flies due to cycling down hills, but those are both involuntary so I guess they don't count.

Dec 13th, 2000, 01:22 PM
Nope, no worms. I was too afraid of centipedes to look for
worms.

Bjwbell
Dec 13th, 2000, 01:25 PM
I'd never eat a possum, they're big rats

Dec 13th, 2000, 01:31 PM
No, No, Bj....You're thinking of SQUIRRELLS. Opossums are
marsupials. Kinda like Kangaroos with small legs.

Bjwbell
Dec 13th, 2000, 01:34 PM
I meant they look like big rats.

Dec 13th, 2000, 01:38 PM
Yeah, and Lobster looks like an insect. Doesn't mean that
it is, tho.

HarryW
Dec 13th, 2000, 01:54 PM
I'd eat squirrel too.

kovan
Dec 13th, 2000, 03:34 PM
i have ate squirels, rabbit, fox, tiny birds, racoons,
few other things that i have NO idea what they are in english

Dec 13th, 2000, 03:40 PM
The worst was sheep's eyes in saffron rice. Had that in DC
once. I was dating a widowed American cousin to the head
cook of the Kuwaiti embassy. It was much worse than baked,
baby sparrow. You could close your eyes to the sparrows.

kovan
Dec 13th, 2000, 03:46 PM
i think among all that i ate ever
little tiny birds (not chicken)
were the BEST
specially barbaqued in the wilderness
mmmm

Dec 13th, 2000, 03:49 PM
Yeah, BBQ wouldn't have been bad, but these were wrapped in
some kind of mud, and then baked. When you cracked the
mud, the feathers came off. I just couldn't handle chewing
up the beak tho. Besides, it was served quite hot, and you
were supposed to eat the thing whole.

Bad news.

HarryW
Dec 13th, 2000, 04:01 PM
DerFarm, I'm not sure if that's the kind of interesting life I'd wish to persue, but each to their own :)

Dec 13th, 2000, 04:11 PM
Evidence of a mis-spent youth, Harry. I could'a been
chasing women.
