[2005] Deployment Issues
First I'd like to say how much i miss VB6.0.
Second i'd like to say how much I miss the package and deployment wizard.
That said I'd like to ask for some help with ClickOnce. After an exhaustive search I have not found anything on what causes my ClickOnce apps to need admin rights for install. Does any of you know? This is sporatic at best.
also, I would like some help, in any form, on how to set up a strong name key on the server so that my apps do not require the caspol to run. we're trying very hard to skip the part where we touch 300 computers. If the user can install the program that's great.
in case you want some background:
the program backs up folders we designate in a .xml file. it zips it and puts the files on a server. the IT guys do not like clickonce because its not storing the .exe files in a location that is "all user" friendly. And as I said before they do not want to manually install this app as admin 300 times. They want the .exe to reside on the server and a shortcut on the desktop. but, to do that i have to run caspol on each machine. Or, i could set up the strong name on the server and give the program access that way. but, i cant figure it out. MSDS has been useless.
Ideas would be great.
