Does anyone know of any FREE web hosting that gives you ASP?

At this stage I'm not concerned about banners because I only want it for learning.

Websamba is RUBBISH! It doesn't support databases, ASPEmail, FileSystemObject etc. etc. etc.

Try http://www.cfm-resources.com

They are the best I've seen - 30mb of space, databases, ASPEmail (Persits) component, FileSystemObject, great Tech Support - the works. Go with them.

No banners either

I would agree with you there Xenonic! I don't use it anyway. He did say for learning...

Thanks for all your suggestions - there is plenty to look at and think about here.

Although it is for learning purposes, I will want to do some database stuff - after all, isn't that the point of ASP - dynamic content?

Am I likely to encounter any problems if I want to include my own dll's in my apps? I can imagine some hosts not being very co-operative about registering my own dlls on their server.

As far as I know, most free ASP hosts don't support OCXs or DLLs, unless you pay...

I might have guessed. I suppose you only get so much for free.

CyberSurfer - you are fined one credit for violation of the verbal morality code. If you havent figured out the 3 seashells yet then you had better get cussing!!! I'm not a great fan of Stallone usually but I do like that one!!!)

Just to let you know I have taken Xenonic_Rob's advice and signed up with cfm-resources. They seemed to offer everything I need at this stage. Only time will tell how good they are!

Actually, WebSamaba do let you email (with the CDONTS lib) and you can use Access databases. Still...I found that they started good, then got overburdened...I think they're trying to sort it out, but you quite often get "Server Busy" errors from them.

I use http://www.brinkster.com . They let you use most stuff...inc the filesystemobject, but their free servers don't let you use ftp. :( I pay about £14 a month and they give me a virtual server, FTP, loadsa cool components, sql server, domain parkin, etc and it seems really reliable. Well worth it.

Just had a look at Brinkster - looks quite good. I might try them as well.
