ARRGH! I've been reviewing the Crystal reports info, trying to figure out the best version/type to include with the network VB6.0 project that uses an A2K database.

IS the RDC version the way to go in order to minimise the # of support files? If so, should I use version RDC6.0 OR try using RDC8.0 & hope I get my project done in 30 days?

OR should I just use the ActiveX component in SCR6.0 & make sure I get ALL the support files included? What do all you Crystal Report veterans end up doing to include it in your VB projects? I'd appreciate ANY input! Thanks!

    Thom,

Any help? - well this is not specific help so here goes...
I've found any version of Crystal to be a pain to distribute, I just went ahead and used the version we had laying around the office (version 5.0).
Be aware that you may encounter problems accessing password protected databases that are not being accessed through ODBC.
As for distributing, I have spent countless hours with Seagate Support (very good) and they provided a list of DLL files to include (which you can get by accessing their site http://www.seagate-software.com), a surefire way to make sure that you include all the necessary distribution files is to have Crystal create a distribution 'package' for a dummy report and install that during your installation process - this way I have found that all the necessary files are included and registered with Windows.
    Good luck.
If you believe in your lie, its the truth.
