Hello all. I am in search of something I saw a long time back that I always thought was really great gag. I can't even say for sure that is was a VB used hack, I am working with limited memory of what it was, and what platform it was used in. I am just hoping that this rings a bell with someone here, and they can point me in the right direction.
It was a hack of sorts that when installed everyone that read the thread saw their name as the topic.
Example...
I would start a thread that was titled, "(_____) was caught stealing a bike" The (_____) would be filled in with the name of the person viewing it. Therefor everyone reading the title and thread would always see their name and think it was about them.
It was a long running thread (and very funny) at a site I use to visit. Would any of you have any knowledge of this hack, or how I can obtain it to use on a site I frequent now?
Thanks for any imput in advance.

I did a search on Sandpaper and Spellchecker here but found nothing in relationship to what I was searching for. OK, I'll be honest, I found tons of threads but after reading through many of them just felt that I was not getting any closer to what I was looking for.
As for bushmobile's reply, I found nothing of any related topic at the link.
I am not a coder, and do not know much about the workings of VB. I just have an administrator that is willing to install this hack if I can find it, and some directions how too. Maybe where you sent me is the right connections (Sandpaper and Spellchecker) but I am not seeing the connection??????
Thanks again. It's nice to know that at least I did not get blank faces on all...LOL

It sounds to me as if this would need to be something built in to the forum software - in which case it would be something along the lines of what |2eM!x posted.

Thanks for the reply...
I did a pretty thorough search on the [you] tag, but found nothing I could use. Are you saying that [you] tag is an internal function that is built into VB and that what I want to to can be done but needs to be coded into the forum I want to post this in?

The forum you are working with is probably not written in any form of VB (I dont think any are, I could be wrong).
The important thing is what penagate asked about - the forum software that is used. Here we use vBulletin (see the very bottom of this page).
|2eM!x meant that the [you] tag (or similar) would be written into the forum software. If it isnt already, you may be able to add it - but how you would do that depends on what software it is.

Do you mean VB as in vBulletin?
Have you searched at vbulletin.org?

As I said in my 1st post, I don't know very much about any of this.
The forums I am a member of have this at the bottom...
