Monday Morning Lunatic
I was considering writing an article on getting started with mySQL, with an emphasis on VB and ADO...
How many people are interested, and what sort of extra things do you think I should add to:
Getting it
Installing
Setting up security/privileges
SQL differences
Putting MyODBC in
Attaching to VB via ADO
Upsizing from an Access DB
I refuse to tie my hands behind my back and hear somebody say "Bend Over, Boy, Because You Have It Coming To You".

I'm going to say it right here, right now:
SQL Server is considerably better than mySQL...
There. I said it . mySQL supports relations, but doesn't usually enforce them. It also doesn't do a load of MS stuff. However, it's free (as Dennis said), fast, open-source (lots of updates), and has been sold so they have profits to work from. It's also cross-platform compatible.

http://www.mysql.com, believe it or not!
That's my top tip for surfing the net.If you're looking for something, whack .com, .net or .org to the end. You're often pleasantly surprised!

Some people have told me they don't think a fat penguin really embodies the grace of Linux, which just tells me they have never seen a angry penguin charging at them in excess of 100mph. They'd be a lot more careful about what they say if they had.

Hehehehehe.
PS: for weak minded people (or those in a crowded area ) - try .gov first!
