Is there any way that, in addition to having post count visible, make the chit chat post # be visible under the regular post count #?

I'm wlling to bet that the answwer will be along the lines of "Not with out a special coding hack" ... which means no in a nutshell.

I remember when I first started here, there was an effort just to keep chit chat on the forums.
Count your blessings; cause afterall, this is a professional site. :)

Well, this is a forum of programmers. ;)
I have never run a forum before so I didn't know if there was a possible fix for it. You have to admit, though, that it would be a nice feature.

I see. Well, I can see why they would want to take it out, but I also think a place to relax is needed in every forum/group/workplace etc.

This is a professional forum, so we'd rather see the posts on the professional / developer areas. Those are what are important when it comes to counting contributions.
Chit chat is generally noise, so knowing how much noise an individual is making can't be a positive thing..... ;) As long as the Acceptable Usage Policy of the forums is being followed, let's leave Chit chat as it is. :D

I have an idea though for those who want to know their chit chat posts. Put their chit chat post count in the User CP. That way there, everyone's happy, and the forum stays professional. Plus I'm curious on how many chit chat posts I have myself in comparison to how many actual posts I've made so I can see whether I'm spending too much time in the chit chat forum or not.

That's the problem though. There should be another way to find out your chit chat post count. We could try uping the number of searches, or making no limit, but it would be convenient to have it in the User CP at least.

Convenient perhaps but it's not going to happen - sorry.

Maybe in some future vB release they will let you do a search between two specific dates. This will solve the issue completely. No special Hack needed.

Well if your in chitchat that would be a good thing to show instead of your regular post count. Id like that much more :thumb: :thumb:
