What's the difference between VB7 and VB.net?

Same thing, called different names. VB7 refers to VB.NET using Framework 1.1.

VB6 was the last version of VB not based on the .NET Framework. VB.NET 2002 was VB7, VB.NET 2003 was VB7.1 and VB 2005 is VB8. The ".NET" suffix is just a label to indicate that it is based on the .NET Framework. All Microsoft products have dropped the .NET as of the 2005 release to imply that .NET is the standard and it is anything else that needs to be distinguished from that, rather than the other way around. It's all just marketing.

Another question about VB.Net 2005.
I've got my new Visual Studio 2005 Pro Edition.
What should I do, Uninstal the VB.Net 2005 Express Edition and then instal the Professional version or ....

Gah! Didin't I just say that the 2005 products don't have a ".NET" suffix? There's nothing to prevent you leaving VB 2005 Express installed. I intend to do so when I get my VS 2005 Pro so that I can answer questions relating to the Express IDE specifically. If you don't intend to use it though, you may as well ditch it.
